Racquetball Rules

Before beginning a game of racquetball, you must first familiarize yourself with the racquetball rules. The original racquetball rules were created by combining the two sports of handball and squash. Typically, racquetball regulations call for two people for game play, but four people can play on a single court. The regulations for a racquetball court are typically the same, whether indoors or outdoors, but there may be some slight variations.

In the official racquetball rules, it is required that a serve be bounced once on the ground before the ball is hit against the wall. Once the ball is in play, only the server will be able to score a point according to the rules of racquetball. The rules for racquetball about serves being the only way to score a point is similar to the rules of tennis or volleyball. This means that, according to racquetball rules, if a server serves a ball that is missed by the other player, they get a point and get to reserve. If they serve a ball that the other player returns and they miss it, the serve simply switches to the other player and no points are garnered.

Another of the important easy racquetball rules is that a ball is only allowed to bounce on the ground one time before a player hits it. In racquetball regulations, this is true whether the ball skims the ground and barely touches it, or if the ball creates a high bounce. This is where the challenge comes in. In the indoor racquetball official rules, in cases where side walls are played, the ball may come in contact with the side walls. However, a requirement of racquetball official rules is that the ball hits the main front wall at least once before bouncing out to the floor. The outdoor racquetball rules will only be the same if the court is the same. In games where there is only one wall of play, the ball can only hit that wall, and it can only hit it once. In racquetball rules and regulations, a game is considered complete when the score has reached 15 points. Most players also apply the two-point difference minimum rule of racquetball. This means that the game wouldn’t end with a score of 14 to 15, and one more point would be needed by the winning player.

There are also a few minor racquetball rules that must be followed at all times during play. This includes the racquetball rules of not touching the ball with anything except the racquet, as well as using a wrist cord on the racquet at all times. Switching hands during a point play is not allowed according to racquetball rules.
